Cousin It

It was grooming day today. Maddux and I were hoping the gas crisis would work in our favor and the mobile van would run out of gas before it got to our house. Unfortunately, our hopes were dashed when the van pulled in the driveway. The guys were late because everyone was blocking the road waiting in line to get gas.

With grooming comes a new bow, and we all know how I HATE bows. I don't use the 'hate' word lightly...I reserve it for really awful things like baths and that yearly poopy test they give you at the vet. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that I was getting that bow out as fast as possible.

Mommy was able to get a few pictures of me before I pulled it out.

Mommy always manages to get a picture of me with my tongue out.

After I pulled out my bow, Mommy kept calling me Cousin It.

While Mommy was washing her face, Maddux and I were chasing each other around the house. Mommy said we sounded like a couple of wild banshees. She came out of the bathroom to find this.

To many, this may not seem odd, but when Mommy left us, this is what Maddux looked like.

You can see that his bandanna was tied securely around his neck.

Mommy suspects that either I yanked it off his neck or he untied it himself...we will let you be the judge on which scenario you think is most plausible. My lips are sealed!

Jet Lag

Daddy is finally home! We've been spending all day doing our favorite thing with him...napping! Daddy's internal time clock is way off so I'm sure we'll be doing a lot more napping tomorrow, too.

We've been a little down since Daddy was gone so long, but we are back to our usual playful selves now that he's back.

Maddux and I have discussed it, and we are not letting Daddy be gone for two weeks anymore. We are putting our paws down...all four of them.

Land of the Rising Sun

Daddy is finally on the last leg of his two week tour in Asia. He leaves Japan tomorrow...well, it's actually tomorrow there today. Anyway, he'll be home Friday afternoon.

A little tidbit about Japan...It is an island country in East Asia located in the Pacific Ocean. The characters that make up Japan's name mean 'sun-origin country', which is why Japan is sometimes identified as "Land of the Rising Sun".

At this point, we don't care what Japan's name translates to or where it's located because we just want our Daddy back home.

It's been a long two weeks, and we aren't holding up so well. We've really let ourselves go since Daddy's been away.

Malaysia, Thailand, and China, Oh My!

Since our last post, Daddy has been to three countries!

PENANG

After he left Singapore, he was in Penang, Malaysia.

Flag of Penang

Penang is the second smallest state in Malaysia and is also known colloquially as "The Pearl of the Orient".

HAT YAI

Flag of Thailand

Daddy went from Penang to Hat Yai, Thailand. Hat Yai is a city in southern Thailand near the border of Malaysia. The name "Hat Yai" is a short version of "Ma Hat Yai", meaning big Ma Hat tree.

SHANGHAI

Flag of China

After Thailand, Daddy was off to Shanghai, China, which is where he is spending the weekend. Shanghai is the second largest city in China in terms of population and one of the largest urban areas in the world, with over 20 million people in its extended metropolitan areas.

The two Chinese characters in the name "Shanghai" literally mean "up, on, or above" and "sea":

The next stop for Daddy is Japan.

We Miss Daddy!

Mommy has been documenting almost every moment of our life so Daddy doesn't miss anything. This morning, Mommy took all kinds of pictures when we woke up...at 6AM! Mommy doesn't get up that early on a work day, but I was ready to rise and shine.

Because Mommy always has the camera at the ready, she was taking pictures of us while we were still in bed.

Here's a picture of me chewing on Maddux's back leg...I love chewing on his legs.

It is hard to tell from this angle, but I'm giving Maddux morning sugar.

Mommy thought these two pictures were hilarious.

A few hours later...

Mommy got out the tripod that Auntie Tina got Daddy for his birthday so she could get a picture of all three of us. You should take a look at the pictures on dropshots to see how many pictures she had to take to get me and Maddux looking at the camera. (Let me save you some time...it was 25!)

Mommy played a dirty trick on us to keep us on the bed...she took away the stairs! I got even with her by going into my hiding place between every picture. I'm even baring my teeth to show my displeasure. I look like a vampire!

We are finally all looking at the camera.

Mommy eventually gave up on getting me out of hiding and she worked around me.

We are all ready for Daddy to come home, and we think he should skip Japan. Well, since he is on a business trip, I guess he can't skip it, and we'll have to wait until Friday to see him.

Sweet Potatoes!

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo Books

Some of you may know that dehydrated sweet potatoes are our FAVORITE treats. Mommy has been buying these for us for awhile. Recently, she got the idea to make them herself. How hard could it be, she wondered...after all, they are just dehydrated sweet potatoes.

A couple of weeks ago, Mommy made the leap and bought a food dehydrator, and last night she got the urge to try out her new appliance. Well, she had a little motivation...we were completely out of sweet potato treats and dog food so she was going to have to stop by the dog store on her way home today. She thought if she could get the sweet potatoes done, she wouldn't need to buy them.

Mommy cut up the sweet potatoes, blanched them in the microwave (luckily there were instructions for "blanching" that came with the dehydrator), filled three trays with sweet potatoes, and plugged it in. The book said it would probably take about 10 hours so Mommy let it run overnight.

Mommy was very excited to see the results so she woke up bright and early (well, she actually got up at her normal time). She went downstairs and opened the lid, and the results were definitely not what she expected. Mommy forgot to turn ON the dehydrator! It's a mistake that could happen to anyone (at least that what Bella and I told her to make her feel better).

Lucky for us, Mommy was able to pick us up some treats on her way home, which we enjoyed after dinner.

Bella enjoying her treat.

Me enjoying mine.

Best position to eat a sweet potato treat...butt in the air.

It normally takes Bella a lot longer to eat her treat, and sometimes I'm able to sneak in and get her's, too.

She finally gives up and lets me have it.

We have to check the floor for crumbs.

After we are done, it's time to get a drink.

Daddy is on his way to Thailand today (the last post was wrong...Mommy said he was going to China). More proof for Daddy that Mommy doesn't listen to him.
