On Saturday, they went to Laguna Beach. This is Bird Rock, which is aptly named for all the birds. I bet there is a lot of bird poop out there!

Ms. Lori wanted to go down to the water and stick her feet in the water to see how cold it was...it was cold!

She talked Mommy into it, too.

While they were on the beach, there was an old guy in his boxer briefs collecting seaweed (unfortunately no picture of him). Those Californians take there healthy lifestyle seriously!
After they walked around Laguna Beach, they decided to drive up Pacific Coast Highway to Newport Beach to watch the sunset. They were a little early so they stopped at Fashion Island, which is a huge outdoor mall. Mommy said there were tons of dogs...they are very dog friendly there. Bella and I think the states of Georgia and Tennessee should become more dog friendly. Bella and I love to shop!
When it was time to watch the sunset, they stumbled upon Lookout Point (thanks to maps on Ms. Lori's phone). It was a great spot to watch the sunset and enjoy the marina view. There were lots of other people there having a picnic as well.

Mommy tried to get some pictures of the gorgeous sunset, but the pictures don't do it justice.

Here's a video of the marina, which is between Newport Beach and Balboa Island. You can't see it in the pictures or the video, but as the sun set you could see the silhouette of a boat as the sun went down.

The next day it was off to San Diego, which was about an hour and half drive from their hotel in Mission Viejo. They went to the downtown area and walked around for a bit and then decided to take a boat tour around San Diego Bay.
This is what they took the tour in...it drives on the road, and it will go right into the water!

San Diego is a huge military town. This is a picture from the tour bus/boat of the USS Midway, which is one of America's longest serving aircraft carriers. It's hard to tell from this picture, but it was HUGE!

Mommy took this picture for Daddy...it's a little blurry, but it's a bunch of F/A-18 planes.

As they were making their way around the bay, this huge ship went past the boat.

There were some sailors on deck waving.

This is what we looked like on the water compared to their ship.

What Mommy and Ms. Lori thought were seals are actually sealions. They were very cute, but this floating dock did not smell good.

A couple of them got into a little scuffle. Bella and I play like that, too.

One sealion decided to cool off.

Back on land, they saw a ship that was in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

San Diego is also where they filmed the movie Top Gun, and they got to see Kansas City Barbeque which is where the scene was filmed where Goose sings Great Balls of Fire.

There was also a car show going on (Mamaw and Papaw would have loved it!), and Mommy got a few pictures as they were leaving.

It sure looks like Mommy and Ms. Lori had fun in California. Maybe one day she'll take us to this dog-friendly part of the country!

Love the pictures! I'm glad that mommy got to have a little bit of fun on her trip. Too bad she couldn't bring home a baby seal to live with you all!
