Bruise

As many of you know, Maddux went to the vet on Thursday because he's been throwing up occasionally, and Mommy wanted to get him checked out. The vet, who is relatively new to the practice, wanted to take some blood to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with his kidney, liver, or other internal organs. She took Maddux out of the room to draw the blood, and when she came back into the room, without Maddux, she did not give Mommy good news.

The vet said that when she was taking blood out of his neck he started to bruise immediately, and because she thought it was a "good stick," she was concerned that this may be an indication of something wrong with his liver, which is not good. What made it even worse is that we wouldn't have the test results until the next day! Needless to say, Mommy was a wreck, and to make matters worse, Daddy was away on business.

Now, I didn't know any of this yet because they left me home alone while the went to the vet, and I was busy chewing a few more shards of wood off the baseboards during this crisis. When Mommy got home, I knew something was wrong, and I was really worried about my brother, Maddux, especially after I saw the huge bruise and hematoma on his neck.

It was a VERY long night on Thursday, and Daddy got up at 2 am to get on the 6 am flight out of Chicago. It was an even longer Friday morning waiting on the vet to call with the results. Fortunately, the vet called at about 10 am with the good news that Maddux's results came back negative! What a relief! Daddy even made it home in time to hear the good news.

Because his hematoma was still large on Friday morning, Mommy took him back to the vet to have a laser treatment done that would take the swelling down. It helped, but he was still swollen a little this morning. It's hard to tell how bruised and how big it still is in the picture, but it looks like a sack of blood hanging down his chest.

These were taken Saturday evening...the swelling is almost gone, but the bruise is still there.
