While we were in Knoxville for Christmas, Sam told Mommy that he really wanted to see me and Bella eat. Mommy wasn't sure why he wanted to see us eat, but she promised him she would take a video and post it on the blog.

Great Tax Break

It was 39 years ago today that Mommy was born. Man, that is a long time ago! Since she was born on the last day of the year, she often hears that she was a great tax break for Mimi and Papaw. Well, it's true...she was a great tax break.

I woke up in the middle of the night last night and realized that Bella and I had not updated the blog with our Christmas post! We've been enjoying our time with Mommy and Daddy this week while they are off from work (aka taking naps with Daddy on his new couch).

We left for Knoxville last Thursday, and we had BIG fun with the family. First, we had Christmas with the munchkins.

In this picture, you can see our shirts, but the rest are gifts from Ms. Corinne. She got Mommy a PetCam so she can spy on us during the day. How rude! Mommy is very excited about this gift. She can't wait to catch Bella in the act of chewing the doorframe. Ms. Corinne did make up for this invasion of privacy by getting us this delicious assortment of treats. I'm actually snacking on some as I type this post.

As you may know from previous posts, Ash boasts that he's an athlete ALL the time. We aren't sure who he is trying to convince...us or him! Anyway, today is "the athlete's" birthday.

Bella and I are no experts, but my guess is athlete's don't sleep this much. They are probably out exercising or playing some kind of sport. Hey, if it makes him feel younger, we'll call him an athlete on his 30th birthday.

They did have a slight issue getting into their assigned parking lot when the parking lot attendant was late due to his late-night partying, but fortunately, they didn't miss their lunch reservation.

It's hard to believe that it's already Thanksgiving! Of course we went to Knoxville to visit the family. I'll have you know that I did much better in my carseat this trip...until we hit the traffic jam. Maddux and I were both resting comfortably in the back seat and then we stopped because of an accident. All lanes were blocked, and we barely moved for almost an hour. We don't mind sitting in the back as long as the car is in motion, but we do NOT like stopping. We were so upset Mommy had to climb in the backseat with us.

On Thanksgiving morning, I hung out with Papaw checking out the sale papers.

As you know from our previous post, we were in Knoxville this weekend, and we spent Saturday with the kids. It was a beautiful day so everyone enjoyed playing outside. Mimi went over to Uncle Bryon's since Papaw was on ANOTHER fishing trip, and she enjoyed seeing how much the kids had grown. Unfortunately, we missed Auntie Tina again...she started her clinicals and had a shift at the hospital on Saturday .

Backseat Riders!

My little sister and I have made many trips to Knoxville, and we have always ridden in the front with Mommy and Daddy. I sit in Mommy's lap, and Bella sits in her bed on the console (unless she sneaks into Mommy's lap). Now, we are in the backseat...in carseats!

Mommy has always been concerned for our safety sitting in the front seat because of the airbags and has considered getting us carseats in the past. Not long ago, we were on our way back from Knoxville, and someone ran a redlight and almost hit us. Due to Daddy's cat like reflexes (Daddy's words), he stopped in time, but dogs went flying. Needless to say, the hunt for carseats was now a priority.

You might think that Bella did better in the carseat than me, but you would be wrong! Here we are at 6am all buckled into our new seats.

I'm happy to report she did much better on the way back to Atlanta, but she still cried. Me, I kind of like being a backseat rider.

Mommy was recently on a business trip to California, and while she was there, she got to enjoy some of the beautiful sites with Ms. Lori (mommy's Team Leader).

On Saturday, they went to Laguna Beach. This is Bird Rock, which is aptly named for all the birds. I bet there is a lot of bird poop out there!

While they were on the beach, there was an old guy in his boxer briefs collecting seaweed (unfortunately no picture of him). Those Californians take there healthy lifestyle seriously!

After they walked around Laguna Beach, they decided to drive up Pacific Coast Highway to Newport Beach to watch the sunset. They were a little early so they stopped at Fashion Island, which is a huge outdoor mall. Mommy said there were tons of dogs...they are very dog friendly there. Bella and I think the states of Georgia and Tennessee should become more dog friendly. Bella and I love to shop!

When it was time to watch the sunset, they stumbled upon Lookout Point (thanks to maps on Ms. Lori's phone). It was a great spot to watch the sunset and enjoy the marina view. There were lots of other people there having a picnic as well.

Here's a video of the marina, which is between Newport Beach and Balboa Island. You can't see it in the pictures or the video, but as the sun set you could see the silhouette of a boat as the sun went down.

The next day it was off to San Diego, which was about an hour and half drive from their hotel in Mission Viejo. They went to the downtown area and walked around for a bit and then decided to take a boat tour around San Diego Bay.

This is what they took the tour in...it drives on the road, and it will go right into the water!

San Diego is a huge military town. This is a picture from the tour bus/boat of the USS Midway, which is one of America's longest serving aircraft carriers. It's hard to tell from this picture, but it was HUGE!

Auntie Jamie and Ash came to visit us this weekend. Somebody had the bright idea (probably Daddy) to walk to the top of Stone Mountain. Mommy and Daddy have gone to the top before, but Mommy said she must have blocked out how hard it was...especially in the Atlanta heat!

Recently, Mommy and Daddy decided to go Jekyll Island, GA for a few days. Since Bella and I hate the beach (sand fleas!), Mamaw and Papaw came to stay with us. We would post some pictures of what we did during their stay, but Mamaw forgot her camera. You can trust me when I say they spoiled us rotten!

We were just glad they were able to make it since there was a really bad storm in Knoxville the night before they came to visit. It knocked their power out for 2 days, and this huge hickory tree fell in their backyard. Well, it mostly fell in the neighbor's yard. Luckily, it didn't hit anything except a fence.

One last thing that Mommy asked me to mention...there was some debate this weekend about what kind of computer she has (or had since it crashed), and of course, Daddy was wrong and Mommy was right (it's a Gateway).

Over the weekend, Daddy has been hard at work in the yard. He's been mulching, mowing, and planting flowers. Here are a few snapshots of the new flowers he planted. Hopefully, they will all survive...some are on the verge of death already since it's been so hot.
